Advanced Manufacturing

Iowa products are an integral part of our every day lives. The windows through which you watched the sunrise may have been produced in Pella. The washer and dryer you do your laundry in may have been made in Newton. Virtually all of the world’s airlines fly with Rockwell Collins avionics equipment, which is headquartered in Cedar Rapids.

The manufacturers who call Iowa home provide one of the largest single source of personal income for Iowans. Iowa's manufacturing industry employed more than 261,000 people in 1999, nearly 29% of the state's payroll employment. Iowa’s manufacturing export growth levels continue to grow. This decade has seen a 59% increase ($4.2 billion just in 1999), this trend will likely continue.
